Learn to Learn and Learn to Forget

Greetings,

Today I learned two things: 1) Learn to learn and 2) Learn to forget

These are a piece of advice from two HP employees who has been working in IT field for more than 20 years. They said that in IT, lots of things come and go. By the time you finish learning a new computing language, a new one comes up which is more reliable everybody starts to talk about it.
So his point was that we should learn and forget and then learn other new things.in

This will go on and on and we will have no control over it. So folks, learn to learn and learn to forget!

It is better to gain knowledge of everything than going deep in just one subject. If you want to succeed in your career then learn to be curious, learn to be enthusiastic, learn to adapt new things quickly and be prepared to fail!

I must warn you that you WILL fail every now and then in your career so be prepared! However, do not repeat same thing for the next time. Learn to improve. Improvise yourself.

Another important thing I want to say is that I have noticed many people who will compete with their classmates or co-workers. That's the most horrible thing you can do in your career. If you are one of them, please do not compare yourself with anyone. Compare yourself with you and concentrate on improvement.

My favorite lines:
  • Don't run  after success. Be capable, success will run after you :)
  • It does not matter where you start, it only matters where you end up!

Do something productive everytime

So, let's get started.

First of all, let me elaborate more on 'Never.Stop.Learning' which is the heading of my Blog as you can see.
I believe that there is no such thing as a learning age. People start learning the minute they are born until the very last day. Life is too short, so why should we waste it doing unproductive activity?

We should all do something productive even if we are on Facebook. Now I am not saying Facebook is an unproductive tool. We can find many productivity in Facebook as well. Visit the pages that interest you. 'Like' them. Try to learn something out of the discussion on the page.

If you are a student like me, 'Like' the University Recruiting page for a company you want to work for. Know what they are up to and see if they're coming to your University or not.

Since I am a student majoring in MIS (Management Information Systems; Fantastic major btw), I am going to talk about some technical stuffs for a couple of months at least. But let me remind you that this blog is not limited to technical stuffs, I am planning to blog variety of things I learn.

Getting back to liking the page on Facebook, I found a great resource to learn technical stuffs such as programming. The page is called "Safari Books Online".

https://www.facebook.com/safaribooksonline

It's a fantastic resource and they do offer free books that you can read online.

So, go ahead and start finding the book that interests you.

Again, Never.Stop.Learning.

Today is the day I am starting my blog.
I got this motivation to start writing blog from a couple of Googlers who came to my school to demonstrate the hiring process of Google job applications.

While driving home today, I thought about what my blog's theme will be.
I have decided that I will post about anything I learn every now and then.

So, please follow my blog to learn new things!
